Markus Opitz

Master Violin Maker · Potsdam-Babelsberg

The Workshop

Craftsmanship with tradition since 1990

In his workshop in Potsdam-Babelsberg, Markus Opitz has been crafting violins, violas, and cellos by hand for over three decades. Every instrument is unique – built with the patience and precision that only decades of experience can produce.

His training began in 1978 in Markneukirchen in the Vogtland region – the historic centre of German instrument making. As the son of a pastor in the GDR, the path was anything but straightforward – yet the passion for the craft could not be stopped.

"The sound is the best argument."
